2017: The Year of the Re-read

One of my New Year's resolutions is to blog more. I think I'll start tonight, cross-posting this from Got Fiction? the blog I review for.

Because I spent more time writing than reading this year, I didn't commit to as many review books. So, 2017 has been the year of the re-read for me. There were some really great books I discovered this year (Day of the Duchess by Sarah MacLean and Going Dark by Monica McCarty), and there were some big stinkers as well, but lots of bloggers will be doing end of the year round ups. I figured since I chose my comfort reads as ones I enjoy over and over, that I would share them with you guys, and hopefully you’ll see one you wind up loving as much as I do. I’ll link each title to my review, in case you want to check those out.
Feel free to comment your comfort reads, or one that  I should be reading.
I’ve read this book so many times that I’ve actually worn through two or three of the paperbacks. This is one of my all time favorite books, and even though I finally bought the ebook, I will probably wear through another paperback. Callie is a character who slowly realizes her worth. And while Gabriel is watching her find herself, he’s falling desperately in love with her. The sexual tension between these two is perfection. I aspire to write half this well.
2. The Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews Magic Shifts Review
The Innkeeper series by Ilona Andrews (no review because I’m a loser who forgot to write one!)
The Hidden Legacy series by Ilona Andrews Burn For Me Review
sensing a trend yet? Next up will be The Edge series
I can’t say enough about Ilona Andrews. Their books leave you stuck in their world, unable and unwilling to leave, hoping there’s someway to keep that feeling for an extra day or two. Classic Book Hangover. I have never reread a book the same day I finished it for the first time, and yet I think I’ve done that twice with Kate Daniels and The Hidden Legacy. You will thank me for recommending this to you. Hidden Legacy is probably my favorite series out there, and that’s saying a lot.
She’s one of my favorite Paranormal Romance/Romantic Suspense authors, and this book hits all the high notes. If you want to know what I miss most in Romancelandia, it’s good PNR. I really do. This combines the intensity of her Romantic Suspenses with the Paranormal aspect and the good news is that the whole series is out and for sale at decent prices, in case this book hooks you ðŸ˜‰
Ah, one of my first Paranormal Romances way back from 2009. I can’t tell you how much I love the world Ms. Cole has created. Her Immortals After Dark are sexy, and silly, and absolutely one of my favorite series. If you haven’t read any of this series, you are absolutely missing out. I have the latest installment on my nightstand, but I don’t want to read it yet because I know I’ll want to ignore life until I’m done and I don’t have a day where I can blanket fort all day long and read. This is my rainy day book.
This book makes me happy. It’s fun, it’s flirty, and it’s fantastic! Tessa Dare at her best! It’s a cross-over between the Spindle Cove series and the Castles Ever After series and it’s just delightful. If you need a happy read, grab a Tessa Dare book. I always read her books with a smile on my face.

Cover Reveal: Dark Past

I am so happy to be able to share this cover with you all! I've been sitting on it for a couple of weeks now, and I'm absolutely thrilled to show you Dark Past.
It's with my editor as we speak, and I'm aiming for a September 2017 release date.

The small town was supposed to be safe...

Kate Landry is tired of running. Thinking she's safe, she settles in the small logging town of Chester, California to manage a cafe. She may be keeping a low profile, but she's hoping to return to a normal life.
When FBI agent Kyle Donovan visits to Chester to stay with a friend, and to recover from his latest case, he never expects to meet sexy barista Kate.

But someone is following Kate...

Kyle worries he brought trouble to her door, while Kate worries her dark past is coming after her.
With danger lurking around every corner, her safe haven isn't as safe as she'd thought. Kate will finally have to trust someone enough to tell him her secrets. Secrets that may just get them killed...

Dark Past Has a Cover!

Hi guys! Dark Past is with my editor, and the cover is sitting in my inbox! You guys don't even know how gorgeous this cover is, and how well Kim Miller captured the feel of the book. She did such an amazing job on Icing the Puck, that there was no doubt in my mind I needed her for this one.

Before I post it here, I'll send it out in my newsletter, so if you want a sneak peek definitely subscribe now!

I'm also terrible at keeping things like this secret, so my newsletter will probably go out next week. ;)

I'm aiming to have Dark Past out in July. Honestly, it all depends on my formatter. As soon as I can, I'll give a firm date.

In the mean time, subscribe to my newsletter. I only send out newsletters when I have a new release, so I won't flood your inbox.

I'll see you guys back here next week for the cover reveal, it'll just be a few days after the newsletter goes out. Maybe there will be an excerpt in there too...

Something New, Something Old

First of all, my anthology Icing The Puck has been nominated for a RONE Award! Please go vote! Sunday the 30th is the last day.

Please head over to this website http://bit.ly/2oPMn7D and vote for Icing the Puck under anthologies.
You may need to register but it's free. And to be honest, the In D'Tale magazine is pretty awesome, in case you want to get the monthly e-magazine.

Something New:

I've mentioned a few times that I've been working on a Romantic Suspense called Dark Past. Well the good news is that I'm about one scene away from the end! That's right, the words The End are upon me! Woohoo! The cover is already with my designer, and an editor is lined up. So I thought I'd share the blurb.

Something Old...

My favorite picture from the Spring Fling Book Fair, where I signed books and talked about Romance.

And now, some bad news...

I've recently found out that Highland Destiny isn't showing up in print on the New Concepts Publishing site anymore. They just switched over to a brand new website, so I was hoping it was just a fluke, but then I heard that it isn't available on amazon anymore either (unless you buy used). After emailing the owner of New Concepts Publishing, she told me that Createspace did an update that lost everything New Concepts publishes. It's heartbreaking, but for now, it isn't available in print. Hopefully everything can get straightened out, though. Right now, I'm in wait and see mode. I'll keep everyone updated, of course. But for now, if you have a print copy of Highland Destiny, just know that it's out of print and a collector's item! :)

A Quick Update

Hi guys! I wanted to give you an update on the three main projects I'm working on at the moment.

Against the Boards will be the next Kenzie MacLir story centering around the New York Empires. But we also have a book about halfway finished called The Lost Laird and I just know you will love it!

Dark Past is a Romantic Suspense that I'm finishing up, and I hope to have a release date set for you soon.

Highland Betrayal has suffered some setbacks, but is finally on track. I hope to have good news for you all soon.

(In case I never posted, my toddler snapped my flash drive and I lost 40,000 words. For reference, I was aiming at the 85,000 word mark, so I lost the first half of the book. I was able to find an early version that I could rewrite the book from, but it's not the same, and it's incredibly disheartening to see that huge of a loss. Moral of the story? Back up your files!).

Of course, I haven't forgotten my Vampires. The Nightkind should see another short story too, so keep checking back to find out what happens to Sebastian. ;)

And I wanted to share something my dad made me. Pretty cool, huh? My hockey book cover on a hockey puck!
